WITH an emphatic 48-10 win against Westville Old Boys away last Saturday, the Fidelity Security South Coast Warriors now have one hand firmly on the KZN First Division South trophy.
It was a commanding performance, with star flanker Kyle van Deventer scoring three tries.
Other tries were scored by Eben Botha, Juandre Koekemoer, Dylan Kroon, Ben Oosthuizen and Dawie Durrheim.
Kroon converted four of the kicks, including the one on his own try, of course!
No penalty kicks were taken as the Warriors ran everything.
“We played nice running rugby and the boys ran in eight tries on the day. We were potent at the breakdowns and our defence was rock solid again,” said coach Christo Henderson.
As it stands now, the Warriors have 53 points, Harlequins 49 and Richards Bay 48.
“We just need a win, or even a draw, and we will be the south section winners and will play the north section winner (either Vryheid or Newcastle) for the Dewar Shield,” explained Christo.
Fortunately there were no new injuries, but James Fourie’s leg infection needs to be assessed to see if he is good to go for this coming weekend’s game.
Warriors’ management has requested for all four teams to play at home this Saturday and are awaiting confirmation and approval from the Sharks fixtures committee.
The Warriors play UKZN at Douglas Mitchell Sports Ground this Saturday, with possibly a slightly later start than usual, if all the home games are given the go-ahead.

* The third team was very unlucky not to have beaten Amangesha recently.
A 50/50 pass from a forward in the last five minutes of the game cost the Warriors as the pass was intercepted and Amangesha scored under the poles.
The final score was 22-16.
Players of the match were Mzizi Mzindle (forwards), Ryan Fisher and Quinton van Rensburg (backs), with Dawie Snyman overall man of the match.
