Oribi to host big polocrosse event
Most of the polocrosse clubs in KwaZulu-Natal are expected to take part in the tournament.
THE Paddock Polocrosse Club and the Rust Bucket Oribi Engine Museum will co-host another open weekend and polo tournament, at the museum in the Oribi area from Friday, August 8 to Sunday, August 10.
A fleet of upcountry V8 cars will visit the museum on the Friday, when the polocrosse players and their horses are expected to arrive. About 70 players from seven KwaZulu-Natal clubs have already been registered for the interclub polocrosse tournament taking place on the Saturday and Sunday.
The museum itself is worth seeing. It houses an amazing private collection of stationary motors, old vehicles and bikes, antique farm implements, assorted machinery – and a rust bucket or two. As usual, the ‘Bucket Bites Kitchen and Cafe’ will be in full swing, providing the usual delicious meals. Assorted liquid refereshments will be available.
Non-polocrosse players who came along to watch previous tournaments were amazed to discover that polocrosse was such an exciting and interesting spectator sport. Come along and experience the thrills and spills for yourself. The scenic drive to the museum and the traditional country hospitality reserved for visitors to the Oribi area will make the trip even more of a treat..
