The KBA men’s trips final played at Banners Rest last Monday went to Shane Nienaber, Jonathan Jacobson and Trevor Heywood. The women’s winners were Ronita Kalil, Pam Cole-Cook and Vi Pells. Both teams are from Margate Bowling Club.
Louw Vermeulen, Keiron Dacey and Steve O’Moore (Bell) were men’s runners-up, Robby Forte, Dave Stevens and Hilton Naude (Umkomaas) came third and fourth place was won by Eddie Fann, Barry Delvin and Mark Smith (Port Shepstone).
Women’s runners-up were Sharolyn Dacey, Charmaine van Deventer and Michelle Vermeulen (Bell), and Kobie Stander, Dora Vosloo and Helen Procter (MCC) won third place. Fay Patterson, Hana Svoboda and Louise Shone (Hibberdene) came fourth.

WINNERS of the Hibiscus Brokers’ mixed trips were Jody Slade, Irene Harris and Kevin Mullen. Second were Gary le Brasse, Rita Dommett and Willy Knott, and session went to Lynne Bamber, Maureen Vorster and Phil Viljoen.
The next competition is the Captain’s Anchor mixed fours on August 1. Convenor – Tony Olivant, catering – Penny Hartmann and Patti Mullen.
‘Springs Old Boys’ will be visiting on August 9 and 10. Nomination forms for committee members are up and nominations for the various portfolios must be received before the AGM on August 16.

THE Shelly Beach SuperSpar mixed trips was won by Dora Vosloo, Helen Proctor and Martiens Olivier on 4+13. Trevor Heywood, Eileen Abel and Danny McCarthy were runners-up on 3 + 1, having ‘peeled’ their first game.
Because of a ‘no show’, one game had to be a pairs match and session winners for this went to Gary Hess and Arthur Orr. Anjie Gold took 50/50. Helen Proctor won the women’s singles and Clive Edmundson the men’s.
Members are urged to support Martiens Olivier, skipped by Arthur Orr and Jo Olivier, skipped by Gae Gravell, at the new ‘novice invitational pairs competition’, sponsored by investment services company SeaGreen Holdings, starting this Friday. Because of this, there will be no tabs this Saturday.

CYNTHIA Korb and Janine Roelofse won the Abingdon Road Kwikspar women’s 2-4-2 last Thursday on 4+14 from runners-up Denise Nel and Irene Harris on 4+9. Sharolyn Dacey and Tina Barbour won session on 2+12.
The next club event is the South Coast Herald men’s pairs on August 7, followed by the Schooners Galley Restaurant in-house competition on August 9 and the JCee Sounds mixed pairs on August 11.

WELL done to Dave Banks, Mac McKenzie and Pam Gilson who won the Port Edward SuperSpar mixed trips last Wednesday. Runners-up were Steve Rennie, John Keppler and Amy Körner, and session went to Aubrey Hood and Dan and Hazel Delaney. 50/50 went to Mac McKenzie.
The next sponsored competitions are the SaveRite mixed pairs on August 1 and the Port Edward Tops men’s pairs this Sunday (3rd). Catering – Sheila Hankey and Olive Ashworth.

DEREK McKechnie, Sandy Jeffrey and Johnny Louch won the Martin Electronics mixed trips last Thursday on 10+20 and the lucky draw went to Herman Scheinberg, Yvonne Bausek and Georgie Mckechnie.
The Mooiriver Brokers’ open 2-4-2 last Friday was won by Athol Robertson on 4+10 and runners-up were Brian Smalberger and Andrea Blignaut on 3+10. First session went to Sophia Cronjé and Riemer van der Wal on 2+8, second session to Shane Nienaber and Franci Philpott on 2+18.
The next sponsored tournament is the Margate Panelbeaters’ men’s 2-4-2 tomorrow morning, contact Ian Hutton at 081 3166634.
There will be another fund-raiser at the club this Saturday afternoon for Umephi Baby Home, in conjunction with Doxa Christian Church. No entry fee for members, but all funds raised will be donated. Tabs in by 1.30pm.
Moth Day is on Sunday (3rd) and entries are limited for the Doug Watson tournament on September 20 and 21. The next bingo evening is August 4 and the next quiz is August 20 at 6 for 6.30pm.

LOUISE Dry, Leone Bloem and Tony Smith won the mixed trips sponsored by Indulgence, runners-up were Dan and Hazel Delaney and David Lindley. Second session went to Hedley Meek, Sergio and Pat Ruperto. Hedley also took the board.

THE Dr Daryl D’Arcy and Glasfit men’s trips played on July 24 was won by Peet van Rooyen, Geoff Barbour and Kevin Mullen. Runners-up were Louw Vermeulen, Keiron Dacey and Steve O’Moore and session went to Luke Pohl, Peter Clarke and Cosmos Gumede.
‘Bowls cricket’ will be played this Sunday at 10.30am, followed by a bring and braai. The women’s trips is scheduled for the morning of August 12.

THE women’s singles final between Louise Shone and Annetjie Human last Wednesday was very close. Both players were stuck on the same score until, after 22 ends, Louise won 21-19.
Last Friday’s nominated mixed trips was won by Danie and Annetjie Human and Louise Snyman. Second prize went to Paul and Desireé Grutter with Bernard Carpenter and session was won by Chris Snyman, Barbs Sates and Brian Commins.
Thanks to Anne Mattyson for filling in on a broken rink, as well as to sponsor The Jolly Roger. The next competition is the nominated mixed trips sponsored by the Hibberdene SuperSpar tomorrow afternoon.

JOKKIE and Marianne van Buuren won the Realty Port Edward mixed pairs, Mac McKenzie and Pat Miller were runners-up and Estelle Carter and Rob Lyle took session.
Port Edward’s trips teams only lost one game each at the recent KBA trips, partly hosted by Port Edward. Elna Stringer and Pam Gilson provided five star catering and special thanks to Tommy Doubell for umpiring.
The Commonwealth Bowls gold medal matches will be screened at a bring and braai at the club tomorrow from 2pm. Duties: bar – George Snyman, tabs – Phil Theron, tea – Sera Koekemoer, eats on August 5 – Leoni Booth and Pat Miller.
