Tennis champs crowned at Tweni

A festive atmosphere prevailed.

THANKS to the good work done by organiser, Reel Fincham, the 2014 championships at Umtentweni Tennis Club ran smoothly over the last three weeks with the finals all played last Saturday.

The club is also grateful to Midas in Marburg for sponsoring the prizes for the championships.

Congratulations to all the winners who were: men’s singles – Colin Barker; men’s doubles – Dan Dimitriu and Rob Browne; women’s doubles – Lynne Rorich and Pam Grobler; mixed doubles – Colin Barker and Isabeau le Roux.

Dan Dimitriu was on duty and brought his much-loved Black Forest cake, samoosas and chilli bites which were devoured early in the afternoon. Thanks, Dan.

After prize-giving, everyone was spoilt by Raj and Pam Naganna who provided the most delicious breyani with accompaniments and this was followed by Isabeau’s delicious apple crumble and cream and Jill

Badenhorst’s famous milk tart. Thanks, you two – the desserts just rounded off the meal in a fabulous way.

South Coast Hospice is holding a sporting event at Port Shepstone Country Club this Saturday, August 16, starting at 8am.

Anyone interested in playing mixed tennis must please contact Raj Naganna at 083 5555021.

Saturday duty: August 16 – Justin Hinchliff; August 23 – Elena Whateley.
