Brave fight not quite enough for Warriors
The Crusaders were given a run for their money.
THE Fidelity Security South Coast Warriors may not have won the match against the Crusaders from Durban last Saturday, but they certainly won their premier league opponents’ respect.
The Warriors went down 21-12, after being 21-0 at one stage.
Tries were scored by captain Juan van den Berg and Josh Fourie, with Dylan Kroon converting the second try.
“We just lost, 21-12, but the boys played very well. Remember, the Crusaders ended third in the premier league. We were 21-0 behind at the break and outscored them 12-0 in the second half,” said coach Christo Henderson. “The Crusaders were very impressed with the Warriors and the way we played, they said we deserved to be in the premier league.”
Next up for the Warriors is the Junior Murray Cup, for first round losers of last weekend’s knockout games.
“All the first division clubs lost except Richards Bay, so the Warriors can still take the Junior Murray Cup as we have already beaten most of the clubs that we will possibly be playing,” said Henderson.
The Warriors’ golf day will take place at Margate Country Club on Friday, October 10 at 9.30am.
Later that night the club’s annual prize-giving dinner function will take place at Margate Sports School.
