Skilful Sandy provides winning chip

THERE was something a little different at the Union Motors open day at Southbroom Golf Club last Friday.
In a surprise twist, the top five fourballs qualified for a monster ‘play-off’.
The catch was that one person would tee off, another hit the second shot, and so on.
There was much excitement, with some 20 players on the fairway, and pro Derek James directing operations.
A crowd gathered on the putting green to watch it all unfold.
Two teams tied after playing the 18th, so there was a chip-off, with Sandy Fitzgerald providing the finesse required to win first prize!

MARGATE Country Club’s Greg Hornby won the LSC Sages tournament played at Port Shepstone and Margate CC last week.
He scored 160 over the two days to secure the championship title.

Hospice day is a hit

THE South Coast Hospice golf day proved a resounding success last Saturday, with the club and course abuzz with activity.
Hospice CEO Di van Dyk thanked the golfers for their support and looked forward to next year’s event.
