ANDREW Curlewis of Margate Country Club will be defending his title at the Wild Waves Golf Challenge at the Wild Coast Sun CC which teed off yesterday. It ends on Friday.
Then, the Vodacom Origins of Golf (presented by Samsung) will be played at the same venue from September 3 to 5.
Golf director Fred Beaver said the course had benefited from some rain but warned that the greens would be ‘pretty fast’.
He suggested that the tournament organisers would need to carefully consider where they placed the pins.
“If the wind picks up, and the holes are put on slopes, the ball just won’t stay there,” he said.

THE annual Restoration Cup will be played this weekend. Tee times will be from 10am on Saturday and 8.30am on Sunday.

Rickie Naidoo carded 48 points to win the comp at Port Shepstone Country Club last Wednesday. Way behind were Ronnie Naidoo and Paul Geoffery on 37 points.Saturday’s comp was won by Charles Mostert on +2, counting out Greg Hornby.They were followed by Bevis Fairbrother, Byron Henning, Debi Stewart and Santhos Baskali.

Rob and co wobble to win

THE Wobblers’ game at Margate Country Club last week was won on 88 points by Robert Henning, Andy Buchan and Nico van Vuuren.In second place were Toekie Janeke, Eddie Pyle and Alan Davies on 87 points, followed by Roy Knight, Dieter Berend and Hans Dallinger on 83 points.
The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Dolf Willemse, Tony Comte and Andre du Plessis on 77 pts.
Saturday’s comp was won by Johan Stoltz and Andrew Curlewis on 43 points, on a count out from Dave Morrison and Karl Zurfluh. One behind them were Mike Lee and Rob Weyer.

Justin in rosy form

JUSTIN Naidoo beat Paul Naidoo in the second round of Pro-Vision’s matchplay played at Port Shepstone Country Club.
The ‘Rose’ was in spectacular form, finishing the game on the 13th hole.
Abel Yeerana and Sharms Goberdan won their respective games on the 16th hole and so progress to the third round.
Pro-Vision’s annual golf day will take place at Port Shepstone Country Club on Sunday, September 14.
A special general meeting will be held at Timeout Sports Bar at 6.30pm today, (Thursday). All members are invited to attend.
