Port Shepstone’s Eddie Fann won the KBA Champion of Champions held at Margate BC last Saturday and runner-up was Tom Crawford of Umkomaas. Athol Robertson of MBC achieved third place and Arthur Seager from Hibberdene, fourth.
The women’s champion was worthy winner Ann Jenkins from Scottburgh, with Leoni Booth from Port Edward as runner-up. Third place went to Southbroom’s Heather Roberts while Vi Eltis from Riverside took fourth.

THE Shelly Beach SuperSpar mixed trips was won by Bill Brown, Barry Herbert and Dawn O’Healy on a score of 4+14. Runners-up on 4+7 were Gary Hess, Arthur Orr and Eula Greer and session went to Doreen van der Westhuizen, Sharon Smith and Bruce Coldwells on 2+6. Rob Lyle took 50/50. This competition will be played again on September 23.
The Hair Shoppe women’s fours takes place tomorrow. The bowls section’s AGM is this Saturday at 1.30pm, followed by the annual awards. Members who are due to receive an award must arrive in full club colours for photographs. Afternoon tabs in will be at 1.45pm from September 13.

THE proposed 2-4-2 sponsored by Mike Hoyer was changed to drawn mixed fours due to the availability of only five rinks. Winners were Danie and Annatjie Human, with Paul and Desirée Grutter.
Second prize went to Roger Burwood, Bubbles Bezuidenhout, Frances Raymond and Jill Whitmore. Session prize went to Jenny Isemonge, John and Judy Hoyer and Estelle Quinn.
Starting times for afternoon social competitions remains at 1.15 for 1.30pm, as the green closes after social bowls on September 13. The Hibberdene SuperSpar mixed trips competition is tomorrow afternoon.
The Mooiriver Brokers mixed trips will be played on September 10. Arthur Seager made it to the semi-finals at the men’s championships and eventually came fourth overall.

Runners-up were Barry Payne, Trish Stein and Rob Lyle and first session went to Neels Boshoff, Hans Wijtman and Steve Evans. Second session was won by Graham Fisher, Mike Lyall and Julia Moorley, and Neels Boshoff took 50/50.
Bonny Hills and Lorraine Wijtman won the Fazenda Restauranté 2-4-2 last Friday and the Mariners Restaurant open fours is today (Thursday). From September 1, summer time comes into action. Tabs in for Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 2 for 2.30pm and Friday tabs are 3 for 3.30pm.

CLUB members were out in full force to support Leoni Booth, who won silver in the KBA Champion of Champions event.
Congratulations to Anne Jenkins of Scottburgh and Eddie Fann of PSCC who took top honours and to runner-up Tom Crawford of Umkomaas.
The Port Edward women also won the annual ‘Battle of the Sexes’ last Saturday afternoon and a spider was held on behalf of the National Association for Blind Bowlers. PECC also donated all the green fees from the day. Work on the green is well under way and members who can assist or make a donation towards labour costs are to contact Jokkie at 079 3001770.

The South Coast Herald mixed 2-4-2 is today and the cricket/bowls fun day is this Sunday at 9.30 for 10am, followed by a bring and braai.
The women’s inter-club competition between Southport, The Bell, Umtentweni and Hibberdene is on September 9.
