New members welcomed at Tweni TC

ONLY seven members braved the cold, windy weather at Umtentweni Tennis Club last Saturday but enjoyed the sets, nevertheless.
Raj Naganna provided sandwiches and samoosas, cake, apple tart and milk tart for tea which warmed the cockles of our hearts! Thanks, Raj.
Monday men’s tennis is going well and there is usually a good turnout so keep it up, guys.
As the weather improves, we hope to have all the courts in action again and the rugby enthusiasts are encouraged to record the game and come to tennis first.
New members, Shumesh Davenarian and Shalendra Jeewan are welcomed to the club and are wished many happy hours on the court.
Birthday greetings go to Jèsus Rodriguez for the 6th and Reel Fincham for the 18th. It is good to have Jèsus back on the courts after his recent knee op.
Have a wonderful day both of you and enjoy lots of tennis during the coming year.

Jan is at Uvongo tennis helm

A VERY successful AGM took place at Uvongo Tennis Club last Saturday afternoon. The meeting ran smoothly and the new committee was elected.
It comprises Brian Danckwerts (president), Jan Visser (chairman), Howard Osborne (vice-chairman), Duncan Biggar (treasurer), Val Kriel (catering convener), Neil Perry (tournament director),
Bruce Lill (groundsman), Ali Majoli (development), Derrick Shall (auditor).
There was no nomination for the position of secretary and Jan requested that one of the members offer to fill the vacancy.
After enjoying tea and scrumptious eats some members braved the very windy weather and played tennis. Fires were lit a bit earlier than had been planned as the weather did not improve.
A very sociable time was had by all who remained to braai and it was great to have other family members join and enjoy the wide variety of salads provided by many members.
Once again a big thanks to Val Kriel and her group of helpers who ensured that the events ran smoothly and the club was left clean and tidy.
Birthday wishes for September go to Deon Burgers, Denis Mitchell (past president), Oliver Perrow, Giules Salottolo, Jan Visser (chairman), Felicity Swinney and Annamarie Wege.
We encourage all members to remember to read the notices on the board to keep abreast with events, duties etc.
Should they have information of any event which may be of interest to members these notices may also be placed on the board.
With warmer weather being predicted by the weatherman we hope to see many players returning to the courts.
