THE Port Shepstone Hockey Club men had a tough game against Rovers last weekend.
They were 5-3 up at half-time, with goals being scored by some substitute players from Gongs.
The second half was a little less frantic, with Sheppie holding the ball better. The final score was 6-4, with a great drag flick by Gareth Bishop to score the final goal.
The women took on Gongs for the second weekend in a row after a bad loss last week due to not having a goalkeeper.
Gongs scored first from a field goal with a strike from the top of the circle.
The second goal was also a field goal, scored off a rebound from the ‘keeper’s pad and it snuck in past the left upright. The score at half time was 2-0.
Sheppie women held off the attacks for the first 10 minutes at the start of the second half, but then went on the attack, playing some beautiful hockey, but unfortunately the ball did not find the back of the net!
Gongs scored one more goal in the second half and the match ended 3-0.
Players of the match were Rix Durrheim and Tanya Hielckert. It was also good to see Robyn Olivant back on the park.
The year-end dinner will be at the Shelly Beach Ski-boat Club on September 27 at 6pm.
The cost is R100 per person, to be paid to Kelly before September 15.
