Technical officials to meet
>
THE first annual general meeting of the year will be for the technical officials at The Bell Bowling Club on Wednesday, September 17 at 9.30am, followed immediately thereafter by the coaches’ AGM at the same venue.
All technical officials, markers and coaches are invited to attend the relevant meetings where the new law books should be available at a cost of R30 each.All club secretaries should have received the nomination forms for members of exco for the 2014/15 season.
Please ensure that these forms are completed and returned to Carol McMullin by no later than September 30 for the KBA AGM to be held at Margate Bowling Club on Monday, October 6 at 9.30am.
Ken Tonge, Chris Forward, Louw Vermeulen and Chairmaine van Deventer are wished good bowling when they play in the national finals of the Spec-Savers Pro Ten in Port Elizabeth this weekend.
The prestigious KBA Masters, the grand finale of the year’s bowling calendar, will be held at Riverside Sports Club this year over the weekend of October 4 and 5.

MUNSTER
TOMMY Dry, Sergio Ruperto and Ella Smith won the Warwick Wealth competition followed by Cliff Moakes, Joan Fowler and Rina Fourie. The first session was won by Piet Heunis, Margaret Moakes and Allan Townsend. Graham Gold, Penny Hood and Helen Cock won the second session and the sportsman prize went to Irene Filmer, Joan Lindley and Martiens Zietsman.
The spider, in aid of Blind Bowlers, was won by Piet Heunis.
Members are advised that the green is closed for refurbishment until further notice.

MARGATE CC
DENZIL Massyn, Gary Hess and Bill Parfitt won the Hibiscus Retirement Villages’ men’s trips with a great score of 4+21. Runners-up were Alan Tyers, Norman Isherwood and Brian Hughes on 4+17. The session prize went to Trevor Heywood, Herman Scheinberger and Ian Hutton with 2+10. Rassie Erasmus won the 50/50 draw. The next men’s trips will be played on September 30th.
This month’s winners of the Hair Shoppe women’s fours were the in-form team of Esta Wentzel, Lenie Geyer, Georgie McKechnie and Lisa Harris with a score of 21+10. Runners-up on 21+4 were Heather Roberts, Dora Vosloo, Ria Botha and Lorraine Wijtman. The lucky 50/50 winner was Marianne van Buuren.
On duty from the 15th are Ida du Randt, Eileen Lloyd and Mike Green.
At the recent AGM Billy Brown was elected chairman and Barry Herbert, vice chairman. Outgoing chairman Clive Edmundson was elected secretary and competition secretary. The new treasurer is Mike Green and Chris Abram again accepted the office of green keeper. Martiens Olivier will continue his fine work as tab master. The club thanks Kobie Stander and Dora Vosloo for their work as secretary and competition secretary respectively.

SOUTHPORT
THE Harbour View SuperSpar women’s trips was won by Marie Coetzer, Barbara Gradwell and Mada Lindeque with Sheugnet Pretorius, Molly Williams and Tammy Gibbons as runners-up. Session went to Barbara Sates, Marie Pick and Kitty Cochman.
The South Coast Herald mixed 2-4-2 was won by Keith Mills and Tammy Gibbons. Mike King and Kitty Cochman were runners-up and the session went to Tickey and Denise Nel.
The cricket bowls game had the all-rounder as Tommy Leek. Peter Anderson scored the most runs and Alan Booth was declared the best wicket taker.

BANNERS REST
JOHN Meyer and Pam Cole-Cook won the Chico’s and Banners Rest mixed pairs played on Friday, September 5. John Keppler and Trish Steyn were runners-up. Second session was won by Dave Hume and Vi Pells, with the 50/50 board going to Lew Angus.
The Tops Port Edward men’s pairs played last Sunday was won by Dave Banks and Dan Delaney, with runners-up Jimmy McAllister and John Keppler. Second session went to Glen Allen and Pieter Ziervogel, and the 50/50 board was won by Dave Banks.
Next sponsored competition is the Banners Rest women’s pairs on Thursday, September 18.
The KBA sevens men and women’s league entry form is now on the notice board, with the club closing date of Wednesday, October 1.

SPECIAL thanks to all the members who assisted with work on the green last week. Ditch boards were lifted and top soil spread as well as many other jobs.
Banners Rest Bowling Club is hosting tabs Wednesday and Saturday afternoons for all bowlers who may be experiencing withdrawal symptoms.

NORA Hills and Nelia Reed won the Hopden’s Kwikspar women’s 2-4-2. Maureen Roach and Margaret Jones were runners-up and the session prizes went to Rosemary Esterhuysen and Louise Mann, Vicki de Beer and Trixi Smith. Ann Riley won the 50/50.
The Ear Institute mixed trips was won by Denzil Massyn, Bill Reed and Marie Momple. Dave Garland, Shirley Barlow and Winston van Greune were runners-up followed by Basil Redshaw, Johan van Niekerk and Irene Holland.
Fruit and Veg City trips was won by Basil Redshaw, Paul Bosman and Winston van Greune followed by Rosemary Esterhuysen, Aileen Ward and Irma Smook with Norman Isherwood, Denise Palframan and Marie Momple in third place.
Bingo will be held on Friday, September 12, and the ‘members only’ Munro Mackay competition takes place this Saturday, September 13 followed by Wingnuts Plumbing mixed 2-4-2 on Monday, September 15; and Martin Electronics men’s 2-4-2 on Thursday, September 18.

ERIC Grierson and John Payn won the recently played South Coast Herald men’s pairs with 4+9 from runners-up Luke Pohl and Steve O’ Moore on 3+9. Jan Huygen and Peter Anderson took the session prize on 2+11.
Spike Maritz and Molly Williams won the Harbour View SuperSpar mixed 2-4-2 on 4+12 from runners-up Tony Korb and Ruth Findlay on 4+10. Jenny Graham and Johnny Meyer took the session prize with 2+17.
The next club event will be the Schooners Galley Restaurant (in house) mixed trips on Saturday 13th followed by the 3rd Avenue mixed fours on Friday, September 19.

THE club will be hosting ‘Pony’ twilight bowls on Friday, September 19, starting at 3pm, followed by a bring and braai from 5.30pm. All bowlers and non-bowlers are welcome.
Riverside has been invited to a social challenge by Margate Bowling Club on Wednesday, September 24.

ARTHUR Seager, Errol Brewer, Louise Shone and Joey Venter beat Felicity van Rensburg, Eddie Milne, Bubbles Bezuidenhout and Brain Commins to win the mixed fours final played last Wednesday.
The monthly nominated mixed trips played last Friday was won Keith Mills, Felicity van Rensburg and Tabie Jonker. Arthur and Miriam Seager with Lionel France were runners-up and the session prize was claimed by Jenny Isemonger with Callie and Estelle Quinn. Hibberdene SuperSpar is thanked for its generous sponsorship.
The next competition is the Hibberdene Pharmacy nominated mixed trips this Friday followed by prize-giving. Please bring a plate of snacks. The green will then be closed for refurbishing.
The Hibberdene sevens team did well in the Umkomaas Bowling Club’s 91st anniversary tournament. Bruce and John Hoyer, Norman and Judy Aiston, Arthur and Miriam Seager and Louise Shone ended up third.

THE winners of the Margate Panelbeaters men’s 2-4-2 played on Friday were Athol Robertson and Dieter Scholz on 4+20. Runners-up were Denzel Massyn and Chris Abram on 4+10 and the sessions were won by Ian Hutton and Ron Canning on 2+7 and Mark Smith and Graham Dunlop on 2+20.
Players are reminded that tabs in commences once again at 1.45 pm for 2pm.
