Senzo is the strongest
Super Bodies Gym in Port Shepstone hosted the event, once again.
THE South Coast Strongman competition, hosted by Selvan Naidoo at least once a year, took place at Superbodies gym in Port Shepstone recently.
“There is always a great attendance, from competitors as well as spectators. The event is always loads of fun and a test of strength and endurance,” said Selvan.
This year there were three weight categories, U85kg, U95kg and Open (95kg and above). There where five different disciplines, namely bench press, squats, clean and press, dead lifts, and tyre flipping.
The heaviest bench presses were accomplished by Tyronne du Toit and Sylva Naidoo, with presses of 170 kg.
The heaviest squats were performed by Senzo Mbambo and Sylva Naidoo, with a weight of 212kg.
Heaviest dead lift of 270kg was done by Terrence Viviers, who also placed first in the tyre flipping event with 16 flips in a minute.
Results:
U85kg – 1 Andile Mavundla, 2 Ziaad Desai, 3 Daniel Jordaan.
86-95kg – 1 Terrence Viviers, 2 Tyronne du Toit, 3 Alton Breunissen.
Open – 1 Senzo Mbambo, 2 Sylva Naidoo, 3 Wiseman Msomi.
The next compo is expected to take place in Southport in October, so watch this space.
