Construction industry golfers give back
The money will be used to look after those requiring palliative care.
THE South Coast construction industry held its annual golf day at the Southbroom Golf Club recently.
A good field enjoyed the excellent weather and as always, the generous sponsors provided welcome sustenance and refreshments at many of the holes.
The fun day was greatly enjoyed by the many stalwarts of the building industry who found the American Scramble format easier to negotiate than some contracts, bills of materials, architectural guidelines and town planning scheme provisions.
The excellent facilities and hospitality of the Southbroom Golf Club added to the overall enjoyment of the day.
One of the greatest satisfactions from such a day is being able to give back to the community and the convener, Dave Kirby of HNK Geomatics, took great pleasure in handing over a cheque for R10 000 to South Coast Hospice in Port Shepstone.

Sbu stuns the field at Margate

SBU Ntozakhe fired a sensational nett 64 to win the monthly medal at Margate Country Club last Saturday.
The B and C divisions were won by Wonder Nxumalo and Dave Morrison respectively.

THERE was plenty of excitement during the Southbroom Golf Club open day, sponsored by Union Motors, last Friday.
In the end, club captain Derrik Matthew led his team comprising Terry Dore, Tony Westoby and Simon Lee to victory.
In second place were Joy Crutchfield, Irene Schanda, Shelley Myers and Rene Matthew, followed by Jay Roos, Errol Rudman, Roy Watkins and Pat McCormick.
Fourth place was taken by Dries Barkhuizen, Frik van Zyl, Brad Verwey and Brandon Sanders, followed by Malcolm Greenland, Art Germs, Adrian Couzyn and Gerald Fitzgerald.

PHIL Myburgh, a left-hander, won the Port Shepstone Country Club comp last Wednesday on 41 points.
In second place was Paul van Tichelen, followed by Kevin Loring.
The Key Note Music School Golf Day last Saturday was won by Santhos Baskali and Roly Shaw on 50 points, one ahead of Santhos Baskali (pivot) and Jacky van Heerden.
In third place on 48 points were Hans Stols and Johan du Plessis.
