Treats for Tweni players

WHAT a difference ‘home-made’ makes! Thanks to Marion, John Silk’s wife, Tweni Tennis Club members were spoiled rotten by absolutely delicious sweet and savoury eats with gingerbread ‘to die for’!
John kept the sets going well, too. There were four visitors last Saturday, namely Marietjie, Hans and Annelet Stols and Hougard du Preez.
Members hope to see more of them in the future. Jèsus Rodriguez made a welcome return after his knee op and it was great to have him back in action.
Congratulations to chairman, Raj Naganna, who fared very well in a recent veteran’s tournament in Klerksdorp. Thanks for keeping Tweni’s flag flying high, Raj.
The league match against Uvongo had to be postponed and will probably be played this weekend.
Grateful thanks go to Reel Fincham for overseeing the court cleaner. Players now feel much safer on the courts without that slippery algae preventing them from moving naturally.
Grant Nevett celebrates his birthday on October 2 and he is wished all the best for the coming year. Hope to see you on the courts again soon, Grant.

New members welcomed at Southbroom

A SPRING round robin was played at Southbroom Tennis Club recently in glorious sunshine, followed by a well attended bring-and-braai.In the men’s section David Crouwkamp was the winner, with Ron Stirling runner-up.
The women’s section was won by Nicky Momberg, with runners-up being Pauline Lee and Luise Mohr.
Welcome to new members, Shirley Jeffery, Brady Mackay-Coghill, Marian Mackenzie and Brandon Saunders. They are wished happy times.
