SEVERAL of Umtentweni Tennis Club’s ‘happy wanderers’ have returned from their respective trips.
Members welcome back Mike and Chloë Dutton, who travelled via the Wild Coast to Addo, Theol and Mary Wood, who went to see the ‘flowers’ and travelled through the Karoo, and Foxy Norton, back from America, but unfortunately laid low after a shoulder operation last Monday.
Members wish you a speedy recovery, Foxy, and look forward to seeing you back on the courts again soon. Jean Backhouse is back in SA and popped in to socialise after tennis on Saturday.
Three courts were in action last week and two visitors, Nico and Marie Hamman, the number two seeds in their age group in SA veterans, graced the courts with high-powered shots.
Isabeau le Roux provided tasty nourishment for the players and the weather also played ball in between all the rainy days.
Members were sad to hear that loyal clubhouse cleaner of many years’ standing, Beatrice Mbili, has been laid off work due to health problems.
It is hoped that she will make a full recovery soon so that she can enjoy her retirement years.
Mervyn and Gloria Tarboton will be on their travels again soon and are wished safe travelling wherever they go.
