KBA
THE KBA 2014 masters women’s gold medal went to Pam Cole-Cook and the silver to Ellen Cawker. Both players are from MBC. PSCC’s Maureen Muller took bronze.
MBC’s Chris Forward took the gold and Eddie Fann from PSCC won silver. Bronze medals went to Louw Vermeulen from The Bell and Athol Robertson from MBC.
At last Monday’s AGM, the elected 2014/2015 office bearers are Lynne Bamber (president), Barbara Brook (vice-president), Carol McMullin (secretary), Gae Gravell (treasurer) and Brian Cross (executive member).
The KBA Player’s Association AGM will be held at MBC on October 18 at 9am, followed by the district colours presentations and a shortened game of bowls. The entry date for the sevens league closed last week, but late entries can be sent to Carol in Janet and Boy’s absence. Entries for the mixed fours close next Monday.

CONGRATULATIONS to Pam Cole-Cook, Ellen Cawker, Chris Forward and Athol Robertson for keeping the MBC flag flying high at the KBA masters, as well as to Barbara Brook for being elected as vice-president of KBA.
Ken Tonge and Mike Jeffrey won the Margate Panelbeaters’ men’s 2-4-2 last Friday on 4+24, runners-up were Trevor Heywood and Johnny Louch on 4+17. First session went to Ian Hutton and Ron Canning on 2+5 and second session to Graham Dunlop and Brian Smallberger on 2+4.
Roy Middleton, Hermann Scheinberg and Terrence van Rensburg won the Fruit & Veg vouchers and the Uvongo Spar vouchers went to Annette Payne, Alison Dinning and Ken McLarty, with Kate Stewart winning the lucky draw.

The next sponsored competition is the Captain’s Anchor mixed fours on October 10. Please check the notice boards for duty rosters, etc. The popular Sunday morning bowls will be followed by a braai this Sunday (12th).

JAN Huygen and Daphne Hounsell won the Harbour View SuperSpar mixed 2-4-2 with a score of 4+7 from runners-up Dennis Graham and Astrid Jackson on 3+14. Tammy Gibbons and Dumisani Madlala took session on 3+9.
The Schooners Restaurant in-house mixed trips is this coming Saturday followed by the J Cee Sounds mixed pairs next Monday.
The club is very proud of Eric Grierson who took part in the KBA masters tournament last weekend. Eric won three out of five games against some very seasoned, strong players. Committee members to note that the next meeting is tomorrow (10th) at 2pm.

BANNERS REST
BRIAN Cole-Cook and Val Smith won last Friday’s Banners Rest mixed pairs with Jimmy and Ann McAllister as runners-up. Session went to Steve Rennie and Jill Francis and Sariena Fouché took the 50/50. The next mixed pairs has been moved from October 31 to November 14.
Bob Francis and Ron Camps were the winners of the Port Edward Tops men’s pairs last Sunday and Steve Rennie and Dice Graaff were runners-up. Session went to Dave Hume and Hannes du Plessis and 50/50 to Ally Weir.
The next sponsored competitions are the Warwick drawn mixed fours tomorrow and the Banners Rest mixed trips next Thursday (16th).

SOUTHBROOM
HEATHER Roberts and Chris Faber are congratulated on being chosen to represent KBA in the interdistricts seniors teams. The next quiz evening is tomorrow (10th) at 6pm, led by new quizmaster Elaine Harrison.
The club’s new committee members are Hans Wijtman (president), Philip Lotter (vice-president), Viv Date (secretary), Malcolm Milne (treasurer), Heather Roberts (competition secretary) and Neville Holmes and Sean Larkins (committee members).

THE Hair Shoppe women’s fours was won by Mal Moni, Gae Gravell, Eileen Lloyd and Jill Brent with a score of 24+16. Marianne van Buuren, Hazel Delaney, Estelle Carter and Leoni Booth were runners-up on a score of 23+5 and Sheena Absalom took 50/50.
The next women’s fours will be on October 31, the women’s trips on October 14 and the Engel & Volkers men’s fours on 17th. Duties – Eula Greer, Tina Kennaugh and Bill Eccles.

NO less than six Port Edward bowlers will be representing the club in the KBA president’s and interdistrict teams in 2015. Well done to Barry Payn, Leoni Booth (interdistrict B), Estelle Carter, Mike Davis, Trish Steyn and Marianne van Buuren (president’s team).

CLIVE Bignell, Nancy Hughes and Pat Hill won the Fruit & Veg City, runners-up were Norman Isherwood, Dawn Ingle and Norman Friedlander and third place went to Patrick Kirkbright, Ken Hills and Hazel Barton.
The Hopdens Kwikspar women’s 2-4-2 had to be cancelled because of the weather, but sincere thanks go to the club’s sponsor for its support.
The new committee will hold its first meeting next Monday (13th) at 9am. The next tournaments are Hibiscus Retirement Villages’ men’s trips next Tuesday (14th) and Martin Electronics men’s 2-4-2 next Thursday (16th), the Wingnuts Plumbing mixed 2-4-2 on October 20 and the Execudec mixed 2-4-2 on October 28. RIVERSIDE was honoured to host the 2014 masters last weekend. Congratulations to champions Pam Cole-Cook and Chris Forward.
Pony twilight bowls will be held next Friday (17th) from 3pm, followed by a German beerfest night. The social challenge rematch between MBC and RBC will be at Riverside on October 29th and the Fruit & Veg mixed 2-4-2 is on October 31. Kitchen duty: Heather Flyng and Yvonne Anderson.

LAST Friday’s quiz evening was won by Pauline and Derek Antrobus’s team, with the Rupertos and van der Liths as runners-up.
