IT’S almost unbelievable! A thunderstorm at 1pm made it seem as if tennis was a no-no at Umtentweni Tennis Club last Saturday.
By 2pm, the courts were dry enough to play on and the three lower courts were nearly worn out when 11 members, joined by Glen Smith, kept going all afternoon.
It’s great to have Glen back from England again and members look forward to seeing her on the courts each week for the month that she is out here.
Pam Grobler brought along chocolate cake, milk tart and Chelsea buns for tea and arranged the sets for all to enjoy. Thanks, Pam.
Steve Blakemore and Jèsus Rodriguez represented the medical fraternity and the men had several enjoyable sets. Fortunately, no one needed medical attention so those two could just relax and enjoy their games.
Members are sorry to hear that Des Smith has been in hospital and wish him a speedy recovery.
