‘Twinkle-toes’ surprises at Tweni
A number of visitors joined the regulars for the day.
WHAT a wonderful surprise it was for Umtentweni Tennis Club members to have Peggy ‘Twinkle-toes Lobster’ Igesund, as well as Hannie and Nick van Eeden, visiting the club last Saturday.
Hannie and Nick have relocated to Kempton Park from Bothaville and are down at the coast for a couple of weeks so members hope to see them again next Saturday.
Keith Gatley is also back from upcountry and made a welcome return to the courts.
The visitors certainly chose the right day to come along to the club as Colin Barker’s wife, Cathy, went to town with the eats for tea and there were cakes, chilli bites, fruit and a savoury dip with French bread as well as a fish mousse! Your scribe is glad she doesn’t follow Colin on the duty list, it’s quite an act to follow.
Mervyn Tarboton is back from the Eastern Cape and everyone had to be ready to play ‘a running game’ again.
Members wish Lynne Rorich a full recovery from her back injury so that she won’t have to stay off so long again.
Raj Naganna took part in a cycle race last week and came to the realisation that cycling is most enjoyable, scary at the beginning with thousands around but great once the pack thinned out a bit.
