BOA swimmers splash out
The excellent weather added to the competitors’ enthusiasm.
BLUE Ocean Aquatics (BOA) swim club hosted its Spring Splash gala at Creston College last Saturday. A record number of 90 swimmers aged from five to 13 years old entered. Although competition was tough, competitors remained focused and many records were broken.
The six year and under kick-a-board race was the highlight of the day, with six girls and three boys taking part. Margate Swimming Club won a trophy for entering the most club swimmers and Suid-Natal Primary won a trophy for most entries from a school.
The age group winners were as follows, girls six and under- Jessica Carmody, boys six and under – Hein Pieterse, girls seven and under – Monica Botha from Seagulls, who performed exceptionally well and broke a number of records.
The under eight year winners where Leith Hair and Khrysten le Roux, under nine winners were Alex Truter from Beavers Swim Club and Rafe Lombard from BOA.
Winners for 10 years were Nezaan Strydom and Kai Hielckert.
Eleven year old winners were Marce Strydom and Ricardo Carthew and 12 year old winners were Andreka Pillay from Graham Bromfield and JP Myburgh from Margate Swimming Club.
The under 13 winner was Jade Cinningham from Graham Bromfield.
