Striders hit the road
The marathon attracted a strong field and 28 qualified for Comrades.
OCTOBER was a very busy month for the South Coast Striders. The 15km club championships started and finished at the Margate Beachfront Wimpy on October 5 with the turn around just before Pistols Saloon in Ramsgate.
The event attracted 28 members and saw 17-year-old Fred Goodhead taking line honours in a time of 1:03:19. Congratulations also to Don Osbourn who won the walkers’ event in a time of 1:35:25.
The Goss and Balfe Southcoast marathon held on October 19 was well supported with more than 50 Striders competing in the two divisions and 28 members qualifying for the Comrades.
Michael Mzobe is congratulated on winning the 21km race and for keeping the South Coast Striders name high.
Just as a reminder, time trials are held every Wednesday at the club. Walkers step out from the clubhouse at 5.15pm with exception of the first Wednesday of every month when they start at the Uvongo pier. Runners set off from the clubhouse to take to the road 15 minutes later at 5.30pm.
