KBA
GOOD luck to everyone playing in the mixed fours this weekend. A reminder about the Players’ Association fund-raiser days on December 6 and 7 and the Golf Day on January 31. Support these functions to help district players raise much-needed funds for interdistrict tournaments next year.
Members to ensure names are posted on the 300 Club lists. The first draw will be done at the council meeting in January.

JOHANNIE Theron, Charles Murgatroyd, Barry Krause and Phil Viljoen won last week’s Captain’s Anchor sponsored mixed trips. Second prize went to Duncan and Margie Randall, Desiree Krause and Kevin Mullen and third went to Brian and Jenny Rawlins and Nico and Sandy Viljoen.
There is still space for teams in the mixed trips next Friday, November 28. Please keep Bob Gouldie in your thoughts and prayers at this time.
Good bowling to all playing in the KBA mixed fours this weekend. Club colours or whites must be worn at tabs in on both Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.

KEN Tonge’s very strong team of Malcolm Baker, Ken, Mike Jefferies and Danny McCarthy were dominant this month, with a very good win over Graham Gold’s team scoring 24 +21. The new team of Mike Davis, Barry Payne, Gino Alilovic and Johnny Keppler achieved silver with 22 +15.
Clive Edmundson’s team of Clive, Martiens Olivier, Mike Green and Billy Eccles with a score of 20 + 5 are in the top three for the first time. There are two changes on the ladder, namely Bill Brown moves up into second place to face Ken Tonge next month, and Arthur Orr moves up into fifth place. There are only seven points between second and third place and seven points between third and fourth. So it’s all up to the final on December 12 as to which teams walk away with the final cash prizes. John Sutton won the draw.
The Hopden’s Spar women’s trips was rained out and the Hibiscus Village men’s trips is on November 25. Duties: Eula Greer, Tina Kennaugh and Clive Edmundson.

THE annual ‘Rhodies’ day at PSCC last Sunday saw both greens full to capacity. A big thank you to organisers, Dalton Cornwall, Murray Ross and their helpers for all the hard work put into organising this successful event.

Pony twilight bowls takes place tomorrow (21st) from 3pm, followed by a quiz night at a cost of R50 per team of four. A light supper will be available and all are welcome. Wally Williams is out of hospital and making good progress.

PORT Edward Bowling Club officially opened for tabs last Saturday with the Wally Brass Friendship Cup. Overall winners were Jokkie van Buuren, Russ Hankey and Jeanie West. Honorary member, Lorna Dell, kindly donated a bottle of whisky for the ‘spider’.
Last Thursday’s Robin Hood mixed trips was won by Gawie Bosman, Derek Wicks and Judith Simpson. Runners-up were Mike Davis, Sandy Davis and Trish Steyn. Barry Payn, Rob Lyle and Phillipa Rowney took session.
There will be twilight bowls tomorrow (21st) at 3.30pm, followed by a ‘sing-along’ with Trevor Smith on keyboards at a cover charge of R10 per person. Contact Jeannette Offer at 083 3958323.

WINNERS of the SuperSpar mixed trips played last Wednesday were Steve Rennie, Hazel Delaney and Amorie Schoëler. Runners-up were Mike Davis, John Keppler and Leoni Booth and second session went to Dice Graaff, Willie Smith and Francine van der Merwe. 50/50 went to Louis la Grange.

Derick Celliers and Daphne Hounsell won the JCee Sounds mixed pairs on a score of 4+20 from runners-up Sharolyn Dacey and Steve O’Moore on 4+16. Tony and Cynthia Korb took session with 2+8 (countout). Bep Gouweloos and Peter Browning won the Harbour View SuperSpar mixed pairs with a score of 4+10 from runners-up Tyrone and Doreen Ferguson on 3+14. Eric Grierson and Isabel Prenger took session on 2+10.
Last week’s ‘battle of the sexes’ competition was won by the men, who scored 356 against the women on 292. The club is now closed for annual green maintenance of the green and clubhouse and will be reopened at a date to be advised.

The nominated mixed trips last Friday was won by Arthur and Miriam Seager and Jan Venter, second place went to Marie Coetzer, Maureen and Tabie Jonker. Session went to Keith Mills, Joan Squires and Felicity van Rensburg. Thanks to Hibberdene Pharmacy for the generous sponsorship.
The next competition is the drawn trips tomorrow (21st) at 2pm, sponsored by The Cutting Edge and Wimpy. There will be no social bowls this Saturday afternoon (22nd) as the club will be hosting a KBA competition, which continues on Sunday.

CONGRATULATIONS to club president, Hans Wijtman, who has been co-opted onto the KBA committee.
The Christmas lunch is scheduled for December 16 at 12 for 12.30pm. The cost will be R85 per person and this, as well as the KBA draw sheet fees, must be paid to Heather as soon as possible. The draw takes place every three months.
The monthly ‘bowls and braai’ will take place on November 30 at 8.30 for 9am. Bar duty: November Hans Wijtman.
