THE annual Port Shepstone Tamil Association golf day was once again a great success.
Held at Port Shepstone Country Club, golfers enjoyed a whole day on the greens followed by a prize-giving, and a delicious meal. After the formalities they enjoyed a night of dancing.
The event raised more than R90 000, some of which will be given back to the community.
Bobby Naidoo, the convener of the golf day, said he was pleased with the outcome of the event.
“I would like to thank all those who sponsored the events, and those who donated cash and toys towards the East Coast Radio Toy Story,” said Mr Naidoo.
He added that the association would be handing the cheque and the collected toys to East Coast Radio soon.

THE Hibiscus Rotary Club held its annual golf day at Margate Country Club last Saturday.
A total of 96 people entered, despite some early rain and the threat of storms. The main sponsor was Martin Electronics.

Dudley pivots to success

THE competition at Southbroom Golf Club last Wednesday was won by Doug Butcher, Barclay Shearer, Joe Carolan and Graham Taylor on 96 points, followed by Gary Purtell, Colin McKay, Paul Cole and Dave Neilson on 93 points, and then Don Osbourn, Nick Sistermanns, Hendrik Westermann and Dries Barkhuizen on 92 pts.
The women’s comp was shortened to nine holes and won by Geraldine Treherne, Lorraine Cook, Margie Bonini and Eileen Neilson on 47 points, with Liz Shaw, Michelle van der Hoek, Irene Schanda and Janet Humphrey on 43 points.
Saturday’s comp was won by Dudley Simmonds and Les Civin on 46 points, on a countout from Mike Jacquet and Dudley, who was the pivot.
Stuart Janvier and John Lison were third on 44 points.
In the women’s section, Lan Yeadon won the countout on 36 points, with Lorraine Cook, Geraldine Treherne and Candida Amm, all scoring 36 points.
