Trail offers full moon fun

Don't miss the inaugural Southbroom Golf Club Night Trail.

IT’S being billed as the most fun you can have under the full moon. It’s the inaugural Southbroom Golf Club Night Trail, a run or walk along either a 5km or 8km trail that will be set out on Southbroom golf course on Friday, December 5.

The event will take place, no matter what the weather man throws into the mix. Entry fee is R60 for adults and R40 for scholars and this includes a boerewors roll and the chance to win all sorts of lucky draw prizes. Registration opens at 6pm, with runners and walkers setting off at 7pm.

Although the courses will be illuminated with moonshine and reflective markers, runners and walkers should bring along a torch.

Southbroom ratepayers, who are hosting the event, point out that trail running has become very popular worldwide with runners taking part for the love of the trails or to boost their physical fitness. While these events are common in Gauteng and the Cape, the Southbroom Golf Club Night Trail will be a first for the South Coast, apart from the weekly Uvongo parkruns from St Michael’s every Saturday at 8am.
