Winners of the Margate Panelbeaters men’s 2-4-2 last Friday were Tony Simmonds and Bill Reed on 4+22. Runners-up were Oscar Pienaar and Roy Baker on 4+11.

The next sponsored tournament is the Hopden’s Spar women’s 2-4-2 this Friday, December 12, with Fruit and Veg men’s trips on December 19.

Sunday morning bowls is played in mufti and everyone is welcome to come and join in a morning of fun, bowlers and non-bowlers are welcome.
Coaching is available for anyone interested in taking up the game of bowls, the only requirement is that flat soled shoes are worn.

THE Indulgence mixed pairs was won by Jimmy and Ann McAllister, with runners-up Aubrey Hood and Helen Cock.
Second session went to Tommy and Myra Doubell and the board to Lesley Ott.

PORT SHEPSTONE
WINNERS of the South Coast Herald women’s fours last Thursday were Kobie Stander, Dora Vosloo, Gill Barker and Caroline Harris.
Runners-up were Maureen Muller, Margie Randall, Sharon Bischoff and Colleen Baker. The 50/50 board was won by Yvonne van Mentz.
The 12th round of the very popular Business Challenge was played last Friday. Winners were Phil Myburgh, Murray Ross and Dave Mee.
The overall winners after 12 rounds were the team representing Protective Clothing, namely Barry Delvin, Jimmy Holtshausen and Tabie Jonker.
Thank you to all the businesses who sponsored prizes and entered teams into the challenge.
The Harbour View SuperSpar 3-2-1 mixed trips was won by Malcolm Baker, Colleen Baker and Tabie Jonker, with the runners-up being Stan and Sandy Penny and Jimmy Holtshausen.
The session prize winners were Brian and Jenny Rawlins with John Williams.

SOUTHBROOM
IN wonderful hot conditions John Sutton, Tony Simmonds, Betty Bolton and Yvonne Bausek won the Mariners open mixed fours last Thursday. Runners-up were Aubrey Hood, Steve Rennie, Dan Delaney and John Keppler. First session went to Barbara Brook, Jimmy Johnson, John Richards and Anne Hattingh. Second session went to Patrick Kirkbright, Nico Mantoan, Elliot Nqoko and Lorraine Wijtman. 50/50 to Philip Lotter.
Tickets for the Christmas lunch are still available from Lorraine Wijtman at R85 per person. The clubhouse is looking very jolly thanks to Heather Roberts, Lorraine Wijtman, Julie Moorley and Mal Sheppard who spent Saturday afternoon putting up all the decorations.
Coffee on the Square will be sponsoring the women’s trips next year, fantastic news.
MARGATE CC
THE final Engel & Volker men’s fours takes place this Friday, December 12 and the standings are still very close on the ladder.
Ken Tonge’s team from Margate looks to be unassailable on 167, but the other places are very tight with only seven points between them, namely Bill Brown (140), Graham Gold (133) and Barry Christie (126).
A lot can still happen this Friday. There will be the main prize-giving after the matches at lunch time and everyone is requested not to rush off.
The green will close after the last tabs this Saturday, but the committee would like to wish all members a merry Christmas and happy new year with family and friends.
Hopefully the re-opening will be mid-January, but you will be kept informed.
PORT EDWARD
MEMBERS and friends enjoyed a scrumptious Christmas feast last Sunday. The next event is the quiz evening this Saturday, December 13, from 5pm to 7.30pm.
Enter teams of four, or arrive and make up a team. Entrance fee is R10 per person and burgers will be on sale for R25.
The Port Edward Realty open trips was won by Joe Ashworth, John Keppler and Ann McAllister.
Jokkie and Marianne van Buuren, and Estelle Carter were runners-up and Andeas van de Linde, Francien van der Merwe and Mike Carter took the session prize.
Barry Payn’s annual business bowls day takes place this Sunday, December 14. Remember the bar and green are open every Friday from 4pm.

THE BELL
A TABS in competition was held last Sunday morning. It was well supported and fun was had by all. Thank you Willy Knott and Margaret Douglass.

The last Sunday braai of the year will take place this Sunday, December 14. All welcome.
Donations are required for the Christmas hamper. The Christmas luncheon is on December 16 at 12.30pm.
There will be tabs in morning bowls for anyone who wishes to play beforehand.
RIVERSIDE
WINNERS of Hopden’s Kwikspar open trips were Heather Flyng with Yvonne and Trevor Anderson on 4+17.
Chummy Smith and Eddie and Norma Louw were runners-up on 4+16
First session prize was awarded to Olwen Gibbs, Adriana Peens and Bruce Coldwell on 2+9.
Justus Bezuidenhout and Johan and Doreen van der Westhuizen took second session on 2+20.
The next sponsored competition is the Cupboard Value open trips on January 7.

Riverside is hosting a Christmas pantomine and three-course supper on December 19 and 20.

THE club was transformed for a most enjoyable Christmas lunch last Sunday. Thanks were extended to all those who played a role.
