News from South Coast bowling clubs.

MARGATE BC

THE president and committee wish all members and their families a healthy, happy and prosperous 2015, and may your time on the bowling green be filled with fun and good spirit.

The ‘Fun Day’ on December 28 was braved by a fair number of people. The bowls was interrupted by rain but the braai was a great success.

The Margate Invitational Pairs takes place on Saturday and Sunday, January 10 and 11.

Good bowling to all those who have been invited to play. Spectators can expect to be entertained by a weekend of exceptional bowls.

The next sponsored day will be the Halfway Toyota men’s trips on Friday, January 9.

Sunday morning bowls are played in mufti and everyone is welcome to come and join in a morning of fun, bowlers and non- bowlers are welcome.

Coaching is available for anyone interested in taking up the game of bowls.

The only requirement is that flat-soled shoes are worn. Eileen Abel can be contacted at 039 3122702 to make an appointment for coaching required during the week.

Coaching will continue as usual every Saturday morning from 9am.

VILLAGE

HAPPY new year to all.

The next sponsored competitions are the Hibiscus Insurance Brokers’ mixed trips on January 8, Hibiscus Retirement Villages’ men’s trips on January 13, Martin Electronics men’s 2-4-2 on January 15, Wingnuts Plumbing mixed 2-4-2 on January 19 and the Execudec mixed 2-4-2 on January 27.

If you wish to play in any of these competitions please contact Hazel at 039 3125277.

The greens will be open for the first competition of the year and it is planned to hold the Bone of Contention on Saturday, January 10.

Please bring a plate of snacks to share after the game.

Don’t forget the club will still be open on Wednesdays and Fridays between 4pm and 6pm for you to come and keep in touch with your friends.

RIVERSIDE

THE first sponsored competition for 2015 is the Cupboard Value open trips on January 7.

Riverside wishes all fellow bowlers on the South Coast a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year.

PORT EDWARD

THE club will start a busy season with the Marlin open trips on January 6 and the Robin Hood mixed trips on January 8.

The club championship drawn mixed trips will take place on January 17 and 18.

Coaching begins again on January 5. Anyone wishing to give the sport a try with a free trial and coaching period, please contact Jokkie van Buuren at 079 3001770.
