Visitors a welcome sight at Uvongo TC
Some of the members are recovering after operations.
THE extreme heat and occasional afternoon rain showers or storms have again kept many players away at Uvongo Tennis Club.
Two country members, Muriel de Vries and Gerard Creamer, were a welcome sight when they returned to play tennis while on holiday.
Coming from ‘altitude’, their style of play always gives our members something to think about when on the court with them.
Sunday afternoon saw Dan Dimitriu visit the club. Dan is a player from Umtentweni who plays an extremely hard game. This challenged the standard of tennis normally played at Uvongo.
Welcome back to Lorna Taylor who has recovered after shoulder surgery and returned to play on Friday.
Val Bouwer is recovering after having had a pacemaker fitted and then suffering from a bout of bronchitis.
She assures us she will be able to play again after her recovery time of about six weeks.
Anthea Mensing’s shoulder replacement operation was successful and she will travel to family in the Cape to recover.
Special birthday wishes to Shelagh Schwegman who turns 70 on the 30th and a big thanks for providing the mouth-watering chocolate cake when she played last Friday. She will fly to Johannesburg to celebrate the occasion with her family and friends.

Committee members are also reminded of the meeting to be held on Saturday, February 7 at noon.
