Spar Regional Hockey Tournament dates confirmed

The fifth Spar KZN regional hockey tournament's first whistle gets blown in Newcastle at the end of February.

SPAR’s KZN Regional Hockey Tournament will commence on the South Coast on April 18 with Southcity Christian College hosting the tournament at home.

The tournament kicks off in the northern regions of KZN on February 21 with Hoërskool Pionier hosting the Northern KZN regional on February 21 and March will be a bustling hockey month with 6 tournaments all around Durban and Pietermaritzburg. The Zululand regional will be played on April 25 and the Umvoti, uThukela and Umzinyathi takes place in Hermansburg on May 9.

MD for SPAR KZN, Rob Philipson stated “We are extremely proud of this tournament. In such a quick period of time, it has become a much-talked about fixture in school calendars. Schools take this tournament incredibly seriously as it gives their girls an opportunity to play teams they would not ordinarily get to meet.”

After a bit of a break, the finals will be played over the weekend of July 25 and 26, and as usual, the tournament rolls out at Thomas More College and St Mary’s Diocesan School for Girls for the pool games on the Saturday. On the Sunday, the cross pools and podium position games will be played at St Mary’s DSG.

Tournament director, Les Galloway said, “It’s great to see how much teams enjoy these SPAR KZN Regional Hockey Tournaments and we certainly look forward to some exciting hockey.” For more information, ‘like’ the Facebook Page.
