Day 2: India light things up, SA nervy

South Africa produced a few anxious moments for their fans.

SOUTH Africa eventually triumphed by 62 runs over neighbours Zimbabwe, but it was a game not without some anxious moments.

For a start, the Proteas were sitting at a precarious 83/4 before David Miller and JP Duminy both smashed centuries to see SA total 339/4.

In reply, Zimbabwe were going along more than just nicely at the halfway mark, and it took Imran Tahir to put on the skids and allow fans to start breathing a little more easily.

SA will want to ensure they get off to better starts going forward, and the bowling, well, we can’t have Dale Steyn getting belted around like he did.

India - Mohali - Cricket fan having face paint applied

The biggest game of the tournament so far was that of India vs Pakistan, which went, somewhat disappointingly for neutrals, too easily in favour of India.

Say what you like about them away from the sub-continent, they will be a threat in the later stages. They have a knack of rising for the big occasions.

Apparently the match was watched by at least 1.1-billion people on TV.

Scores:

South Africa 339/4. Zimbabwe 277/10.

India 300/7. Pakistan 224/10.
