THE Neela Raman Memorial Cup attracted a huge crowd at the Marburg Sports Complex last Saturday.

The weather gods played their part, as the players were greeted with fine weather. Players braved the intense heat, as teams showcased their new kits, players and team strategies.

After a very competitive round robin stage, Avengers secured a semi-final place against Lunatics. Lunatics proved too strong, as they thrashed Avengers by two sets to nil. The other semi-final saw Mtwalume up against Paragon VC.

Paragon VC has found that unique balance of youth and experience and this proved to be an advantage as they took the game to the more fancied Mtwalume side. After two nail-biting sets, Mtwalume finally won the match.

The final did not seem to live up to expectations as Mtwalume steam-rolled Lunatics aside in two straight sets to secure the opening knockout of 2015.
