It’s all about the … bass!
Danette Hayes bagged the winning fish at the annual family competition which was extremely well supported.
MORE than 400 anglers enjoyed the nice cool weather and fishing at the annual Paddock Fishing Competition held last weekend.
The 38 local Oribi and Paddock dams were all full and the plethora of anglers yielded a record of 486.073kg fish altogether.
With around 150 people camping at the Paddock Club a festive atmosphere was created and young and old enjoyed the meals prepared by the catering committee.
The committee was overwhelmed by the generosity of all the sponsors involved as this year saw more than R150 000 worth of prizes and cash being donated towards the competition.
These prizes were handed to the top fishermen and women as well as many lucky draw winners.
Emily Stedman (aged 6) walked away with the R4000 cash prize lucky draw on Sunday.
Wim Pienaar’s dam (No 3), prepared by Neil Campbell, was judged to be the best prepared dam of the compo.
Trevor Dunstone’s dam, No 8 was the most productive, producing a total of 64.91kg fish.
The biggest fish caught this year by Danette Hayes was a 3.55kg bass which came from Rob Basel’s dam (No 28).
