DESPITE all the sports entertainment on offer at the weekend, the round four 2015 SupaDrift Series drifters pulled on their suits and showed up ready to beat the odds and showcase the fastest-growing motorsport to date at Dezzi Raceway.
Hundreds of fans gathered around the raceway, to watch their favourite drivers tear up the fast course. The 30-strong field of competitors included many Gauteng drivers among the predominantly KZN field. The event elicited unprecedented local support and was fuelled by flesh-tingling cheers as the ‘out of town’ top dogs fought off stiff competition from the local hopefuls.

The circuit is a make or break affair and drivers had their work cut out for them. Unfotunately, Marisca Dyke, a young woman driver from the East Rand, had an accident during a practice session last Friday, when she lost control of her car and overturned. Luckily, she was not injured and was treated only for shock.

The Dezzi Raceway in Port Shepstone is fast becoming a favourite on the SupaDrift championship circuit.
Drivers looked to fine-tune their smoke-churning sideways drifting and get their suped-up cars race-ready in order to cement their positions in the series. The up-down Dezzi rollercoaster circuit layout provided many challenging corners and the ‘drift’ techniques and skills of the drivers were pushed to the limit.
