THE Southern KZN central league golf team edged out Cotswold Down in a tight match at Southbroom Golf Club last Sunday. In doing so, they maintained their spot at the top of the log and, with only two games remaining, look to have a great chance of gaining promotion to the B league next year.
The match was won 7-5, with afternoon singles wins coming from Douglas Sima, Gary Purtell, Simon Lee and Robert Mavundla.
Sipho Shusha halved his match, playing at number one.
Morning foursomes games were won by Robert Mavundla and Robert Sikobi, as well as Patrick Mavundla and Shusha.
Sima and Ronnie Mtshaka got a half, while Purtell and Lee suffered a rare loss.
The premier league team, meanwhile, lost to Mount Edgecombe (away).
