TEAM Margate produced solid swims at the KZN Speedo Prestige Championships held in Durban recently.
Highlights included strong performances by Danielle Smith (16) who qualified for three finals on the first day of the championships, taking silver in the 200m freestyle (2.10:88) and 50m backstroke (32:30) events.
She continued her medal haul with silver in the 200m individual medley (2.27:98) and 100m backstroke (1.09:56) events on day three.
Sisters Denita (16) and Britney Pieterse (15) represented their team in four finals each.
Denita swam in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke where she placed seventh, eighth and eighth respectively, and 10th in the 100m backstroke.
Britney swam in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke where she placed eighth, seventh and seventh respectively, and 50m butterfly where she placed ninth.
Jeandré Joubert (13) dropped 4.99 secs in the 200m individual medley event and qualified for the 200m backstroke final where he finished seventh overall.
Joshua Parry (12) progressed through to the finals in his favourite event, the 100m butterfly where he finished seventh overall with a stunning time improvement of 3.72 secs to record a new personal best time of 1.20:35.
Joanelle Herman (13) produced personal best times in her 50m breaststroke and 200m individual medley events.
