Dirt bike riders gear up for Matat2Pont

It will be the first extreme sporting event of its kind.

IMAGINE starting an adventure on your motorcycle from a height of about 1 400m above sea level and finishing four days later just 10m from sea level?

Riders of dirt bikes will do just this, when they start at Matatiele on Wednesday, September 23 and follow a GPS route to the finish which takes place at The Pont Holiday Resort in Port Edward on Saturday, September 26.

This is the first ever Matat2Pont Enduro Adventure extreme sporting event hosted by Powasol Eventing and The Pont Holiday Resort in Port Edward.

Spectators are welcome to visit The Pont on Saturday (September 26) and watch the riders as they reach the finish line after their gruelling journey.

There will be plenty of action, live entertainment and well-known local band, Reflex will perform live at the Pont Pub.

Participating bikers will experience the awesome scenery, breathtaking views and mind blowing challenges as they ride through several mountain passes which include the Mountain Lake Pass, the Eagle’s Nest Pass, Good Afternoon Pass and Ball Bearings Pass.

Riders are currently in the process of negotiating a floating bridge which will span across the Umtamvuna River to the finish line at The Pont.

Unfortunately, boating will have to be restricted in that specific area on Saturday, September 26.
