THE ‘Toys for Joy’ fundraising dinner/dance Mexican style at Margate Bowling Club last Saturday was a huge success once again, with more than 600 toys collected for the underprivileged.
It formed part of Rotary’s annual toy drive. Winston Smile made sure that his music kept the dance floor packed to capacity.
Johnny Louch and his many helpers are to be commended for all the hard work put in to ensure that everyone had a great evening.
Next sponsored competitions will be the Halfway Toyota men’s 2-4-2 this Friday (4th), the Uvongo Spar open trips on December 11, and the Manaba Kwikspar Women’s 2-4-2 on December 18.
The Sunday morning bowlers are having their Christmas ‘Bring and Braai’ this Sunday (6th), starting at 8.30am. Bring your own meat and a salad to share.
The annual Christmas club lunch will be held on December 13, please enter your names on the list should you wish to attend.
The Christmas pantomime will be held on December 19. The cost per person will be R30. Bring along your picnic basket for an evening of fun and entertainment.
The women’s club competition draws are on the notice board. First rounds should be played as soon as possible and payment of R10 per competition is posted before the start of the first game.

THE Indulgence Beauty Salon open pairs played last Wednesday was won by Pam Cole-Cook and Vi Pells.
In second place were Brian Cole-Cook and John Meyer, followed by Leoni Booth and Estelle Carter. The 50/50 board went to Peter Bennett.
Next sponsored competitions are the GP Security mixed pairs this Friday (4th) and the Tops Port Edward men’s pairs this Sunday (6th).
HIBBERDENE
WINNERS of the nominated mixed trips played last Friday were Bez and Bubbles Bezuidenhout, ably assisted by Bernard Carpenter.
Second place went to Errol Brewer, Dennis Lewis and Paul Grutter. Session went to Fay Patterson, Werner Mody and Renti Stevens.

MUNSTER
LOUISE Dry, Leone Bloem and Rob Lyall won the High Rock mixed trips last week. Runners-up were Hedley Meek, Sergio Ruperto and Joey Anderson.

The club will be holding a Carols by Candlelight on Friday, December 18 at 6.30pm. All welcome.

BARRY Payn, Trevor Smith and Philippa Rowney won the Marlin Surveying & Mapping open trips last week.

It’s nearly time for the club’s Winter Wonderland Christmas Lunch on December 16. Bookings essential to assist with catering purposes. Dress up for the occasion.

PORT SHEPSTONE
THREE cheers! For the first time in league this season, there was no rain, which made conditions much more enjoyable.
The club again had mixed results. The men’s A side played Margate BC away and lost 0-5.
The B side played against Margate BC ‘C’ side at home in what was a very tight match.
Dave Price’s side won 22-18 but Keith Mills’s side lost 20-17. They were down 20-15 and needed a two on the last end to avoid losing the overall.
That they achieved so they lost but PSCC managed to win overall.
The women played at PSCC in the morning and got off to a fine start beating Margate A 4-1.
However they were unable to maintain the momentum and lost 5-0 to AMBC in the second match.
Thanks to Eddie Fann for the excellent condition of the greens and for all the hard work he has put in.
RIVERSIDE
THE Food Lover’s Market 2-4-2 was won by Sandy Ferguson and Rassie Erasmus followed by Jo and Martiens Olivier.
Sessions went to Trevor Hayward and Phillip Audibert (first) and Norma Louw and Chummy Smith (second). Next sponsored competition, Hopdens Spar Open Trips, Tuesday afternoon, December 8.
SOUTHBROOM
THE ever popular Wolf Security open trips was won by Graham Fisher, Hilda Tod and Nico Mantoan.
Runners-up were Heather Roberts, Mal Sheppard and Christine Faber.
First session went to Aubrey Hood, Steve Rennie and Jennie Rennie, while the second session went to Neels Boshoff, Kevin Tod and Viv Date. 50/50 to Lorraine Wijtman.
Coffee on the Square winners were Graham Fisher, Kobus Faber. Runners-up were Wynand Bezuidenhout, Christine Faber and Cleve Walker.

SOUTHPORT
THE Fruit & Veg pairs played last Tuesday was won by Mike King and Peter Anderson. They tied with runners-up Bob Macfarlane and Sandy Shepherd but won on scoring more shots for.
Third prize went to Rynier van Tonder and Fanie Strydom. The Harbour View SuperSpar women’s trips last Thursday was won by Cyndy McMurtry, Daphne Hounsell and Isabele Prenger.
Second prize went to Barbara Fernihough, Susan Fourie and Sandy van Niekerk. The second session prize was won by Tammy Gibbons, Cheryl Knight and Carol Oaks.
The Suziki sponsored mixed trips played last Sunday was won by Peter and Pat Maggs and Peter Clark.
Runners-up were Jaques Snyman, Shenagh Dempster and Jan Snyman. Third prize was taken by Rynier van Tonder, Don Russouw and Perry Williams.
Two-bowl trips league continues this Friday and Christmas festivities this Saturday. Both events start at 3pm.
THE BELL
WINNERS of the mixed trips played last Friday were Astrid Jackson, Marie Pick and Mike Findlay. Runners-up were Peet van Rooyen, Susan Fourie and Kevin Mullen.
The second session prize went to Gary le Brasse, Rita Dommett and Willy Knott. The draw for the club mixed drawn fours is on the board. Also entry forms for anyone wishing to enter the Nationals.
TWENI
WELL done to Astrid Jackson, Sheenagh Dempster, Marie Pick, Cynthia Korb, Isabel Prenger and Tammy Gibbons who did the club proud in winning the third division Saturday league.
The Umtentweni green, which is currently closed for yearly maintenance, is looking superb. Heartfelt thanks to all those involved for your hard work.
The Christmas function is set for December 19 and members are asked to diarise the date. More communication to follow.
VILLAGE
THE men will be playing league at the Village on the next few Saturday afternoons, so only four rinks will be available for social bowls. If you don’t wish to play then come and support our teams.
The KBA diaries are available from Hazel at R20 and she is also collecting R60 for the KBA 300 Club.
Don’t forget the Boma Branch for ‘get-togethers’ on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 4pm till 6pm.
There will be no sponsored competitions at the club until further notice.
