THE South African Japan Karate Association (SA JKA ) held its KwaZulu-Natal provincial championships in Durban recently.
There was an excellent turnout, with more than 200 entrants, covering all ages, from ‘dinkies’ to masters.
Southern KZN’s JKA dojo fielded a small team but it had great success, in both the kata (form) and kumite (fighting) events.
Teams from this event get chosen to represent KZN at the JKA National Championships each year and from there will be chosen to represent South Africa abroad.
Southern KZN is represented by three dojos (schools), in Port Edward, Ramsgate and Shelly Beach.
