BLUE Ocean Aquatics swimmers excelled at the recent Westville Sprints Swimming Gala.
Most of the club’s 10 swimmers came home with personal best times, new records and a bucket load of medals,
They took part in various age groups and events.
Emma Kuhn won six gold medals, in 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 100m breaststroke, 200m individual medley, 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke.
She also picked up a silver medal in the 50m backstroke. Her overall improvement was 15.38 seconds and she walked away with the overall age group winner for 10 year-old girls.
Samantha Labuschagne won four gold medals in the 50m and 100m backstroke races, as well as the 50m and 100m freestyle events.
She claimed silver in the 400m freestyle and 200m backstroke events.
Samantha also broke the meet records in the 16 year old age group for the 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle.
Michelle Kretzschmar won gold medals in the 50m and 100m backstroke races.
Milla Drakopoulos won gold in the 50m freestyle as well as four silver medals, in the 100m freestyle, 50m and 100m backstroke, and 200m individual medley.
She was also able to improve on her times by 14.48 seconds.
Keytin Vorster bagged gold in the 50m freestyle and a bronze in the 100m freestyle.
Coach Mandy Koegelenberg was pleased with the results and said swimmers were looking forward to the KZN champs this month, followed by the Level 1 champs in February next year.
