THE blistering heat didn’t deter enough players for four courts to pitch up at Umtentweni Tennis Club last Saturday but all were content to just use the three bottom courts and have a rest in between sets.
Anne Payn set a hard-to-follow example for the new year with delicious cakes, tart and sarmies which provided the energy required to keep going in the heat.
Several visitors put in a welcome appearance both on Wednesday and Saturday and members enjoyed the different tennis from them all.
Paul Mundell, Ewald and Willie van Loggerenberg and Tap Kruger’s daughter, Jani, joined in on Wednesday.
Our friends from Himeville, Di Lund and her daughter, Lucy Holmes joined by Cath Morris from Dar-es-Salaam and Mike Papageorge, Richard and Matthew Pringle, Willem Erasmus and Helgard du Preez swelled the numbers on Saturday.
Members wish secretary, Anne Payn a successful hip op and a speedy recovery thereafter.
Saturday duty: January 9 – Foxy Norton; January 16 – Elena Whateley.
