Sun shines on tennis players

The visitors swelled the numbers last Saturday.

WOULD there be tennis or wouldn’t there? That was the question on everyone’s lips at Umtentweni Tennis Club last Saturday with the rain coming down at noon.

Next minute the sun was out and five courts were in use with visitors, Rod Hackland, Doug Harris, Gavin Mellors and Theol Wood swelling the men’s numbers.

It was great to have them all and we look forward to seeing them again.

Besides all the delicious cakes which members provided for the tournament, grateful thanks go to Mervyn Tarboton for providing all the round rolls.

As the person on duty wasn’t around, members were able to enjoy the cakes which were left over without anyone else having to provide.

Raj Naganna, who is captain of the side, and Dan Dimitriu will be playing in the Inter-Provincial Tournament in Durban in April and members wish them good luck and good tennis.

It’s great that you are keeping Tweni’s flag flying high, you two.

Saturday duty: April 2 – Jean Marx; April 9 – Dan Dimitriu.
