Everyone was geared up

Car enthusiasts were treated to a celebration of motoring.

THE Wild Coast Sun Motor Show last Saturday was more than… a ‘show’.

It was a celebration of all things motoring and a nostalgic drive back in time to when the car was far more than just a useful vehicle.

Motoring enthusiasts came from far and wide with more than 100 much-loved modern to pre-1975 cars lined up to be admired – big-finned American petrol guzzlers to sleek Italian models and beautifully restored sedans.

The really impressive cars in the ‘show and shine’ and ‘night glow’ categories were a treat. The ear shattering sound off competition was a show highlight and earned sustained applause. Trophies and cash prizes to the value of R50 000 were given away.

Even the weatherman played the game, contributing bright sunshine to add to the fun. Not surprisingly, this festive annual show has become one of the major motoring events on the KwaZulu-Natal calendar.

Wild Coast Sun slots shift manager and organiser of the motor show, Claude Naidoo, said that preparations for this year’s show began at a very early stage to ensure a spectacularly successful event.

“More than just a spit ‘n polish car show around the neighbourhood, we introduced a number of new initiatives to refresh the event and ensure that it remains one of the coast’s leading motor shows. It was billed as a family affair, as it had something for everyone, including a range of food stalls and entertainment galore to keep the little ones busy.”
