Ayushman Kalicharan takes gold for kumite at Kanazawa Cup

Two-time world champion and eighth Dan black belt, Murukami Manabu Shihan of Japan was present.

THE Kanazawa Cup, one of South Africa’s premier karate tournaments, took place at the Tongaat Indoor Sports Centre recently.

More than 600 karate students from throughout the country were present to fight for top honours in various categories.

SKISA Port Shepstone karateka, Jehryn Moonsamy took two bronze medals in kata and kumite while Ayushman Kalicharan took gold in his division for kumite.

Guest of honour was two-time world champion and eighth Dan black belt, Murukami Manabu Shihan of Japan.
