Golfers enjoyed the change.

DUE to an extremely busy week for Southbroom Golf Club, Wednesday’s usual competition was played last Tuesday.

The women’s comp was won on 39 points by Julie Walker, six ahead of Lynn Blackstock, who was two clear of Candida Amm.

Men’s comp saw Norman Jeffery win on 40 points, from Malcolm Greenland and Ross McKay, who both had 38 points.

Friday saw the Union Motors business day take place, and won by Malcolm Greenland, Gary Purtell, Brian Hoggart and Paul Lawson on 99 points.

Runners-up were Steve, Jeff, Desigan and Preggie on 97 points (no surnames supplied).

In third place were Simon Lee, Brandon Saunders, Dawie van der Post and Guy Yeadon on 91 points, counting out George Bowie, Russell Mackenzie, Nic van Deventer and James Tutt.

Saturday’s betterball was won on 45 points by Sandy Luus and Helen Proctor, one ahead of Julie Walker and Jeanne Powell on 44 points.

In third place on 42 points were Allyson Thomas and Lynn Blackstock.

In the men’s comp the winners were Piet Joubert and Stuart Janvier on 50 points, three ahead of Bob Thomas and Erroll Amm.

On 45 points were Howard Kelly and Rob Galbraith, as well as Gavin Sole and Tony Holness, plus Peter Manning and Fred Stopforth.
