New format for Tweni TC champs

UMTENTWENI Tennis Club championships will take on a different format this year to allow participation from a broader spectrum of abilities and age groups, which members hope will include as many players as possible.

It will be played as a round robin on the first two weekends of July. The first weekend will be men’s and women’s doubles, followed by mixed doubles the next weekend.

Each player will keep their own score and the top scorers will then play for the singles title. For the men, the top four qualify, while the women will only have a final.

All finals will be the best of three sets. Members are encouraged to take part and enjoy the new format.

Starting time on Saturday, July 1 is noon. Entry fee is R30 per person which includes all events.

Any questions, please do not hesitate to ask the committee. On another note, great news for the club as plans go ahead to refurbish the surface of another court.

Last, but not least, the club would like to extend a warm welcome to new member, Reynecke Swanepoel.
