WHEN it comes to catching shad, please remember there is a bag limit of four and the minimum size is 30cm.
The season closes on September 30 and re-opens on December 1. A lot of shad are still being caught at Stiebel Rocks in Umzumbe.

Anglers are still getting the odd kob and grunter at Sandspit and The Block in Port Shepstone.
Moving down south, from Oslo Beach to Margate Pier, there has been a lot of activity with anglers bagging some decent-sized shad and kob.
Further down the coast, from Ramsgate to Port Edward’s Splash Rock, there has been quite a bit of action as many game fish have been caught on fresh sardine baits and live shad.
Some decent-sized bronze bream and rock cod have been caught in the Trafalgar area.
There are reports of a few big grey sharks around in the deeper water that some of our anglers have been targeting with heavy tackle, dropping their baits with a kite on the windy days and a drone on clear days.
