Great news for car freaks: Perana’s power Fords are back!

An SA performance icon returns 50 years on.

ANY South African petrol head will understand what Perana means.

Basil Green’s incredible Peranas rewrote motoring history on road and track in this country, delivering incredible performance bang for the buck to the man in the street.

Today, 50 years down the line, Perana is back and then some, as the brand is re-born in South Africa through a range of super-Ford Mustangs and Rangers, which benefit a significant level of re-engineering like those iconic Capris and Cortinas, deliver an exquisite and unique range of bespoke performance Fords.
Comprising a trio of Rangers and a Mustang, the new Perana range is topped by a pair of 500kW supercharged V8 Fords – the Mustang Perana and a Ranger Perana 660 like never before.
There is also a 325kW Ford Ranger V8 Perana 415 and a 185kW Ford Ranger Perana 250 powered by a tweaked 3.2-litre Ford turbodiesel.
All Peranas include various levels of chassis, suspension, drivetrain and brake enhancements; along with aerodynamic and interior trim upgrades.

“The Perana name is synonymous with performance motoring in South Africa,” Road to Race CEO Peter Lindenberg explained. “Now to mark 50 years of that incredible brand, we are bringing Perana back to life through a stunning new range of value for money performance Fords.
“The Mustang Perana is a brilliant new option that brings value and performance to the market, but the biggest news is the arrival of the unique Ranger Perana range bound to gain traction as the bakkie of bakkies in a bakkie-mad market.
“We have three Ranger Perana models on offer, from the wild supercharged V8 660, through the normally aspirated V8 415 to the turbodiesel 250.”
