Policewoman Marina wins gold at MTB champs
Lieutenant-Colonel Marina Thorne has earned herself a place in the SAPS national bike team.
THE South African Police Service (SAPS) National Mountain Bike Championships, hosted by North-West Province, was held in Potchefstroom recently.
About 150 officers from all nine provinces and the SAPS National Head Office took part in the competition.
Making the South Coast proud and winning gold at the event was Lieutenant-Colonel Marina Thorne of the Ugu Cluster office in Port Shepstone.

She was part of the KwaZulu-Natal provincial team and won gold medals in the Prologue, Cross-Country and Hill Climb categories and a silver medal in the 58-kilometre marathon, earning herself a place in the SAPS national team.
Ugu Cluster Commander, Major-General Sethenya Agnes Nxamagele congratulated Lt-Col Thorne on her remarkable achievement.
“We are proud of her successes in the championships. Not only has she done the KZN Province proud but the Ugu Cluster as well. The medals are well-deserved and we wish her well in all her future endeavours,” said Maj-Gen Nxamagele.
