KINGFISHER BOWLING ASSOCIATION
Hats off (literally at times) to those who played in gale force winds and driving rain in the recent fours tournament.
Who said bowls is for sissies?
Fortunately, the weather eased off and the semis and finals were played in more pleasant and drier weather.
The women’s winners were AMBC’s Delysia Mitchley, Hilary Holmes, Maureen Lancaster and Hester Hankey.
Runners-up were Margate BC’s Jessica Henderson, Pam Cole-Cook, Ellen Cawker and Georgie McKechnie.
In joint third were Riverside’s Maureen Muller, Rae Barber, Trish Bell and Pauline Dunlop as well as Margate’s Annette Payne, Ann Waugh, Yvonne Bausek and Sandy Ferguson.
The men’s winners were Hibberdene’s Bez Bezuidenhout, Danie Human, Arthur Seager and Bruce Hoyer.
Riverside’s Dion Audie, Dave Barber, Gerhard Waldeck and Stefan Helberg were runners-up.
In joint third were Hibberdene’s Wayne van Nikkelen-Kuyper, Albert Munnik, Eddie Milne and Riaan van der Berg and Port Shepstone’s Eddie Fann, Roy Anderson, Howard Frizelle and Peter Maggs.
The Masters Tournament will be held at Margate BC this weekend.
The men’s section is Claude Ching, Dumisani Madlala, Eddie Fann, Ferro van Greunen, Ian Kalil, Louw Vermeulen, Ron Weddell, Ross Ferguson, Roy Anderson, Shane Nienaber, Simon Shaaij and Wayne van Nikkelen-Kuyper.
The women’s section is Dora Vosloo, Ellen Cawker, Franci Philpott, Georgie Mckechnie, Heather Roberts, Hilary Holmes, Jane Massam, Leoni Booth, Liesje de Rosner, Marianne van Buuren, Maureen Muller and Pam Cole-Cook.
The AGM will be held at Margate BC this Monday, October 2 at 9.30am. Please wear whites or club colours.

HIBBERDENE
The two Hibberdene men’s fours teams brought honour to the club two weeks ago.
Bez Bezuidenhout, Arthur Seager, Danie Human and Bruce Hoyer won the KBA men’s fours.
Then, Wayne van Nikkelen-Kuyper, Eddie Milne, Albert Munnik and Riaan van der Berg claimed the bronze medal.
The green is progressing steadily, thanks to the combined efforts of a quite a number of people.
MARGATE BC
RENNIE Geyser and Reg Saunders won the Mugg and Bean 2-4-2 last Friday.
Runners-up were Annette Payn and Heidi Bracegirdle. Session prize to Ferro van Greunen and Gerald Crerar.
Social bowls every Sunday at 9am. Dress is casual.
Duties: office – Margaret Duffield; tea Sandy Ferguson/Trixi Smith.
MUNSTER
Soup and roll social at the club this Friday (29th) at 5.30pm. Cost is R25; come and join in.
Beach braai this Sunday (1st) weather permitting at Peter Pan beach, Leisure Bay under the trees at the entrance at 1.30pm.
30-club draw will be held on Saturday, October 7 at 3pm. Bring and braai, salad to share.
Opening day will be announced at the braai.
PORT EDWARD
Marianne van Buuren and Leoni Booth will be playing in the KBA Masters at Margate BC this weekend.
Members wish them best of luck. Enjoy the tournament.
SOUTHBROOM
John Keppler, Hedley Meek and Aubrey Wood won the Tiago’s men’s trips last Tuesday.
Runners-up were Brian Douthwaite, Bill Eccles and Martiens Olivier.
Sessions went to Hein Bester, Cleve Walker and Bill Reed, as well as Alan Tyers, Gary Hess and Ali Mitchell. 50/50 to Sean Larkins.
It’s the AGM this Friday (29th) at 6pm. Green closes for annual maintenance, open again end October.
SOUTHPORT
Winners of the annual women’s interclub trips were The Bell. Runners-up were Umtentweni.
Margate BC won the men’s fours from Umtentweni. Both games were hosted at Southport BC.
The Geochem sponsored mixed trips last Sunday was won by Fanie Strydom, Jan Scholtz and Jenny Floquet.
Runners-up were Mike King, Trevor Main and Lyn Harris. Session prize went to Don and Shirley Russouw and Vic Holder.
Greens will be closed for the month of October.
THE BELL

Runners-up were Mada Lindeque and Hew Hodgson. Second session went to Desiree and Barry Krause.

TWENI
The Wimpy women’s pairs was won by Sharolyn Dacey and Tina Barbour from runners-up Tammy Gibbons and Des van den Berg.
Session prize went to Desiree Krause and Margie Randall.
The interclub men’s fours at Southport was won by Margate BC. Tweni came second.
South Coast Herald men’s pairs is on Tuesday, October 3 in the morning.
The Fellowship Day between Tweni, Sezela and Hibberdene will be on Sunday, October 8, followed by a braai.
The quiz evening has been moved to Wednesday, October 4 at 6pm.
VILLAGE
Brian Douthwaite, Dennis Rehbock and Chrissie Chancellor won the Hibiscus Insurance Brokers mixed trips.
Runners-up were Alan Tyers, Ali Mitchell and Denise Palframan.
Sessions went to Graham Fisher, Brent Addison and Julia Moorley and to Reg Sanders, Dave Garland and Dawn Ingle. Sharon Smith won the 50/50.
Martin Electronics men’s 2-4-2 was won by Dereck Schorn and Carl Volker followed by Roy Robertson and Bill Parfitt.
Sessions went to Norman Isherwood and Clive Bignell and to Martiens Olivier and Dennis Rhebock. Ken Habben won the 50/50.
