Tennis: A game of love for young and old
Having fun is one of the key components to the coaching.
Julia Christiansen is a qualified professional tennis coach currently offering coaching to South Coasters at the Uvongo Tennis Club of late, with the help of her son Daniel.
She loves the game and is eager to see the next generation enjoy a sport that has huge global appeal, especially in Europe, but which has waned somewhat in South Africa.
However, with the likes of South African star Kevin Anderson doing so well, reaching the final of the US Open at Flushing Meadow in New York against Rafael Nadal last month, she believes that with the right amount of dedication, commitment and sheer guts, anything is possible.

“The secret is to keep trying, but also to have fun in the process. Anyone can improve their game, no matter what their age or skill level,” she said.
“I believe in finding the potential in each player and teaching them to love the game.”
Julia encourages people to get involved in social tennis at a local club, where anybody is welcome to join in.
“We need to continue to encourage, develop, support and keep a strong presence of young players who should be seen as the future and continuing success of the wonderful game of tennis.”
