Jordan ‘stand out’ surfer at Sisonke Challenge

The youngsters are improving all the time.

A number of the Ugu Surfriders team took part in the Sisonke Surf Challenge on Durban’s Dairy Beach recently.

The event was sponsored by Sea Harvest and the Natal Sharks board and sanctioned by Surfing South Africa.

Maya ‘Smurf’ Potgieter of Ramsgate impressed the judges, surfing into second place behind the current South African champion Gabbi Herbst in the U12 girls division.

Kira Attfield from Shelly Beach also tackled the challenging conditions to take fifth place in this division.

In the U14 boys division Landon Windvogel of Ramsgate showed the experience he had gained at the recent SA champs and surfed into the final, securing fourth place while Jordan Boshoff of Shelly Beach placed third in the same division.

Jordan also placed fifth in the U18 division and was awarded a standout surfer of the contest award for excellent surfing and spirit shown throughout the contest.
