From the bowling greens: Much Fann-fare at Doug Watson tournament
Winners were Port Shepstone Country Club's Eddie Fann, Roy Anderson, Pam Cole-Cook and Vi Pells.
The Doug Watson Legacy bowls tournament took place at Margate Bowling Club last weekend.
There was a good turnout and Doug’s legacy was honoured.

Runners-up were Shane Nienaber, Deon Audie, Maureen Muller and Hillary Holmes.
In third spot were Louw Vermeulen, Charmaine Vermeulen, Michelle Vermeulen and Keith Harcombe,
Fourth place went to Mark and Esmé Haley, Johan Crafford and Debbie Phillips.
Sponsors were thanked, namely Margate Panelbeaters, ExPro and Warwick Wealth.
BANNERS REST
At the club AGM held on Monday the committee for next year was elected: President: Brian Cole-Cook; vice-president: Dave Hume; secretary John Keppler; treasurer: Ann McAllister.
Opening of the green for the new season will be on Sunday, November 19 at 10am, followed by a bring-and-braai.
Good bowling to our players on the KBA Sevens league starting on Monday, November 6, and Saturday league sides starting on Saturday November 11.
HIBBERDENE
The green opened last Friday afternoon with six rinks being played. Some had fours, some had trips.
The rain came and went but all enjoyed the bowls.
This Friday (3rd) is the Tiago’s Open Flame drawn competition. The new list is up for the bar and tea duties.
MARGATE BC
The team comprising Ron Canning, James Johnston, Hans van der Walt and Alex Forrest won the Mugg & Bean/Fruit & Veg competition last week.
Winners of the Spur competition were Rennie Geyer and Reg Saunders from Deon van Schalkwyk and Hans van der Walt.
Session prize went to Gerry Davey and Rob Miller.
There’s coaching on Wednesday, November 8. The list is on the notice board.
Social bowls is played every Sunday morning from 9am. Dress casual, bowls and assistance provided.
Duties: Office – Allison Dinning; tea – Dina van der Walt, Ann Waugh.
MARGATE CC
The club opened its green last Wednesday with the Food Lover’s Market ‘build a burger’ lunch and a club competition sponsored by Shelly Beach SuperSpar.
First Prize went to Dennis Rehbock and Cindy Cano.

Second prize went to Yvonne von Mentz and Peter Griffiths and Peta Egerton.
Brian Douthwaite, Clive Edmundson, Marie Rogers and Mike Green won third prize.
There will be no competitions next week because of the Sevens League but there will be normal tabs on Wednesday morning.
PORT EDWARD
The greens will be opening this Saturday (4th) for the Wally Brass Friendship Trophy.
Teams to be drawn, please be at the club at 1.30pm for tabs in for the draw at 1.45pm. Visitors welcome, members please bring a plate of eats.
Congratulations to Leoni Booth and Marianne van Buuren on their selection for the KBA Open and President’s side respectively.
Friday evening sundowners at the club from 4pm, visitors welcome.
PSCC
This past weekend saw the playing of the Doug Watson Memorial tournament at Margate BC.
Sheppie had four teams of the 34 entered, led by Brian Rawlins, Murray Ross, Pat Maggs (Three Peas and a Gem) and Eddie Fann (Eeny Meny Miny Mo).
Eddie’s team won the tournament with his team comprising Roy Anderson, Pam Cole-Cook and Vi Pells.
Murray’s team was 16th, Pat’s 17th and Brian’s 23rd.
Mark Smith, who has recovered from illness, has been selected as captain of the KBA B side.
This week sees the playing of the South Coast Herald fours today (2nd).
VILLAGE
Gary Hess and Dora Vosloo won the Kwikspar mixed last week, with Ivan and Hazel Hosken the runners-up.
First session went to Betty Bolton and John Sutton. Second session went to Graham and Pauline Dunlop. 50/50 to Herman Scheinberg.
RAC draw and bring and braai this Friday (3rd).
Food Lover’s Market tabs-in drawn mixed trips this Saturday (4th).
